The Chicago Transit Authority announced today the launch of a new summer promotion called "CTA Take It and Win." The promotion encourages customers to log on to the CTA website at www.transitchicago.com between July 15, 1999 and September 1, 1999 to see if the serial numbers of their active farecards or CTA passes are instant winners. If a serial number on a card matches a pre-selected winning serial number, the customer wins the prize shown. All CTA Transit Cards or passes with an expiration date of 7/15/99 or later are valid for entry except U-PASSes.
Customers who don't have internet access can also enter the "Take It and Win" promotion by mailing in their Transit Card serial numbers. Official entry forms are available at CTA Merchandise Mart offices, train stations, on advertising placards inside railcars, and at participating Jewel and Dominick's, or by calling the CTA Customer Service Hot Line at 1-888-YOUR-CTA.
Once the promotion begins, hundreds of valuable prizes including a Grand Prize of two round-trip, first class United Airlines tickets to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, CD players, tickets to "Fosse" the Broadway musical, tickets to Chicago sporting events, weekend getaways at Chicago's world-class Talbott Hotel, and certificates to Lettuce Entertain You and Mantuano Restaurants, will be awarded weekly.
"The CTA has made a great many improvements. Through this promotion, we want to give our loyal customers a chance to win, and also encourage people who haven't been on the CTA recently to take another look," said CTA Board Chairman Valerie B. Jarrett.
CTA President Frank Kruesi said, "We're encouraged by the recent surge in CTA ridership and we're working hard to keep that momentum going by continuing to deliver on-time, clean, safe and friendly service. "Take It and Win" is more than a reference to our promotion, but a reflection of the benefits that come with taking mass transit. No congestion, no wear-and-tear on your car, no pollution, no fuel bills, no road rage - no problem."
All winning and non-winning entries will be automatically entered into the Second Chance Sweepstakes for the opportunity to win the Grand Prize and any unclaimed instant win prizes when customers participate in the instant win game via internet, or by mail. The Second Chance drawing will be conducted on or about September 28, 1999 by an independent judging organization whose decisions are final.
The CTA "Take It and Win" promotion is being handled by the advertising firm of LEC of Chicago and Little & King Co. of Amityville, New York.
To claim instant prizes, winners must bring a picture I.D., plus a document with date of birth, along with the winning Transit Card or pass to the CTA Information Desk at the Merchandise Mart, 350 N. Wells, 7th Floor, Chicago, Illinois, weekdays from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Prizes must be claimed no later than 4:00pm on 9/24/99 or prize will be forfeited and awarded via the Second Chance Drawing.
The promotion is open to legal residents of Illinois age 18 or older, except employees and their immediate families of CTA and the sponsoring or collaborating agencies. No Transit Card purchase is necessary to enter.
